Oggi era l’ultimo giorno del campionato e si sono disputate 4 regate, dopo 14 regate e due scarti, si laurea Campione Mondiale Hobie Cat 14 il sudafricano Blaine Dodds, seguito dall’australiana Georgia Warren-Myers e dal neozelandese Fletcher Warren-Myers. Il nostro Stefan Griesmeyer ha mantenuto la quinta posizione.
I Dragoon hanno fatto altre tre prove e si mantiene in testa l’equipaggio francese di Lou Berthomieu. Il nostro equipaggio Campione Nazionale Luca Di Nisio – Edoardo Rosati hanno mantenuto la quarta posizione e dopo un secondo posto all’ultima prova si stanno avvicinando al terzo, i belga Nicolas De Vos.
Tutta la flotta Hobie Cat 16 e 16 spi ha invece corso una sola prova e questa è la situazione dopo la 7ª prova.
Nella categoria HC 16 Youth dopo 7 prove e 1 scarto è primo il danese Nicklas Heide, e al momento conferma la terza posizione l’equipaggio Alessandro Cesarini – Diana Rogge.
Nella categoria Women dopo 7 prove e uno scarto vince la tedesca di Kerstin Wichardt, seguita dalle australiane Michelle Bursa e Bella Zanesco e in quarta posizione dalle nostre Valentina Gessa – Irene Bezzi.
Nella categoria Master ha vinto il tedesco Ingo Delius seguito dal tedesco Christian Diederich e dal sudafricano Shaun Ferry. I nostri Piero Gessa – Roberto Dessy hanno conformato la loro quinta posizione.
Nella categoria Grand Master ha vinto il portoghese Joaquin De Silva seguiti dall’australiano Jerry Schaffer e dal tedesco Klaus-Dieter Fischer, il nostro equipaggio Volker Pfeifer – Bianca Barile hanno chiuso in quinta posizione.
Nella categoria Great Grand Master ha vinto l’australiano Kerli Corlet seguito dal danese Robert Heilbron e dallo spagnolo Serafin Sanz.
Nella categoria Open Spi ha vinto il francese Orion Martin seguito dal danese Daniel Bjørnholt e dal frncese Cedric Bader.

BLAINE DODDS WORLD CHAMPION !
Racing at the Hobie MultiWorlds and Hobie 16 Europeans today was an unusual wind pattern. In the morning the breeze was gusting to over 30 knots. When the race committee signaled for the boats to leave the beach the wind was 20 knots and by the time they started racing it 12 knots and decreasing.
All classes managed one race except for the Hobie 14 which did not have a race completed before the committee abandoned the race. On the same course the Dragoon managed to finfish their race before the wind died. As did the Hobie 16 race course.
In the afternoon the south wind came back for some excellent racing on both courses. Two races were run for all classes.
Hobie 14 World Championships
The 1st Hobie 14 World Championships was held in 1972 ,Honolulu, Hawaii. We had 45 sailors from 8 countries and 4 continents. At the 15th Hobie 14 World Championships we have 35 sailors from 9 countries and 5 continents. We have two Hobie 14 World Champions competing at these worlds. Thorin Zeilmaker from Holland is the 2003 Hobie 14 World Champion, Arnaud Thieme from France 2013 4th Hobie Dragoon World Championships Travemunde, Germany.
Blaine Dodds from South Africa won the Hobie 14 Worlds. Blaine was excited to win the Hobie 14 Worlds after his first Hobie Worlds was in 1977 when he finished 5th. In his victory speech Blaine said ‘my family are three generation of Hobie sailing. We love the Hobie Class and will continue to sail Hobies and encourage every family to have as much fun and enjoyment as we have.’
Hobie 16 Europeans
The European Hobie 16 Open Spinnaker, Hobie 16 Masters, Grand Masters and Great Grand Masters and Hobie 16 Womens also concluded.
Ladies first : Kerstin Wichardt (GER) wins the title of Hobie 16 Women European champion, followed by two Australian sailors Michelle Bursa, 2nd, and Bella Zanesko, 3rd.
Hobie 16 Open Spinnaker, a French/Danish podium with Orion Martin/Charlotte Hilliard (FRA) European Champions, followed by the brothers Bjørnholt (DEN) 2nd, and the brothers Bader (FRA) 3rd place.
