DAY 2 (aggiornato) : HC14 WORLDS

Secondo giorno di regate per gli Hobie Cat 14 al Mondiale Multiclasse.

Dopo sette regate e il primo scarto,  è sempre primo  il sudafricano Blaine Dodds anche se il suo vantaggio si è molto assottigliato nei confronti dei suoi diretti avversari. Il nostro Stefan Griesmeyer è quinto.

The Warren-Myers won 3 out of the 4 races of the day

 Two races have been held today at the 15th Hobie 14 World Championships at Gargnano, Lago Di Garda Italy.

 The sailors awoke to a thunderstorm and lightning show. With the northerly wind pushing the storm away. They also bought a relief to the high temperatures.

 The first race of the day (race 4 of the series) was started in a gusty 12-17 knots of breeze. Stefan Griesmeyer from Italy won the race with Fletcher Warren-Myers from New Zealand a close second. With championship leader Blaine Dodds from South Africa in 9th place after touching another boat and having to a penalty turn

 In the second race of the day Fletcher Warren-Myers won the race. With Blaine Dodds in second and former Hobie 14 World Champion Thorin Zeilmaker from the Netherlands in third.

 The race committee postponed the racing allowing the southerly wind to arrive.

 With the new breeze the Australian ladies showed the way.  Georgia Warren-Myers was first followed by Mia Hordern was second. Blaine Dodds (first male) was third to keep his overall championships lead.

 In the seventh race of the series Georgia Warren-Myers lead from start to finish to make a wonderful sailing day for the Warren-Myers. The Warren-Myers won 3 out of the four races sailed today. Fletcher Warren-Myers said he had some luck in the race. “I fouled a boat and had to a penalty turn. As I did my turns the other tacked off and I found a windshift and gained all the paces I lost doing the penalty turns”

 Blaine Dodds, “I had  bad start and then whatever I did I couldn’t get back into the race leaders”.

 

Domani inizia il Campionato del Mondo Dragoon , l’Europeo femminile Hobie Cat 16, l’Europeo Master Hobie Cat 16, l’Europeo Youth HC 16 spi e l’HC 16 Open Spi. Tantissimi gli equipaggi italiani in gara in tutte queste specialità!
